Danny worked as a CEDR Director (London) since 2004 and is dually qualified as a lawyer both in Australia and the UK. He has been involved in negotiation, conflict resolution training, mediation and international business for over 20 years. After completing his Masters in Commercial Law he specialised in dispute resolution and international trade.
Danny speaks Mandarin Chinese fluently and mediates regularly in Hong Kong, China and overseas using both English and Mandarin. Based in Hong Kong he mediates regularly in the commercial, employment, construction, succession and trusts, banking, insurance, and property sectors. He is also an expert trainer and facilitator providing training in conflict management, negotiation, change management, unconscious bias and mediation to organisations such as the UN, EU, ADB, IHG, IFC, IMF, World Bank and MTR
Since 2010 he has acted as Regional Mediator Asia Pacific for the World Bank Group.
An author of many articles on ADR and negotiation; his book “Mediation in Greater China” was published by Kluwer Law. Co-Editor of “Mediation in Singapore: A practical guide” a Sweet & Maxwell publication launched by the Chief Justice of Singapore in March 2015 (new edition 2021). Editor and author new book “Chinese International Business Transactions and Laws” published March 2017.
In 2009 was appointed Director of Mediation at the United Nations in New York after acting as an expert adviser on the establishment of a new Mediation Division.
Danny has worked as a trainer in many countries including Azerbaijan, China, Cameroon, Guyana, Hong Kong, Ireland, Mongolia, Singapore, Sweden, UK and the USA. He has provided consultancy to the legislatures of Hong Kong, China and Vietnam.
He currently teaches dispute resolution at Kobe University Japan and the International Peace and Dialogue Institute in Switzerland. He is a member: Hong Kong Government’s Steering Committee on Mediation, Chair HKMAAL CPD Committee, Law Society of England and Wales, UK Civil Mediation Council, American Bar Association, and a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Currently Mediator Panels: World Bank, CEDR London, CEDR Asia Pacific Hong Kong, Shanghai Mediation Centre, Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC), CCPIT Mediation Centre Beijing and the International Mediation Institute (IMI). 2016 Winner of International Advisory Experts Mediation Law award for Hong Kong.
