About Us

Asia Pacific Centre for Arbitration & Mediation Foundation (Corporate Identity Number U93000KL2020NPL064649) (APCAM) is an international ADR centre formed jointly by many arbitration and mediation centres from the Asia-Pacific countries.

APCAM is registered as a Section 8 company, under the Indian Companies Act and is administered by a Governing Board, comprising of members nominated by the promoter centres from each country. The Governing Board of APCAM is guided by an International Advisory Board comprising of eminent jurists from the region.

Governing Board:

The administration of APCAM is done by an independent Governing Board comprising of nominee Board members from each constituent institutions, who are some of the best arbitrators, mediators or ADR professionals from the Asia-Pacific region. The Board is also supported by a team of experienced lawyers, ADR professionals and academics from diverse jurisdictions, under different Committees. The participation of such experts provides APCAM with international expertise and insight into developments in ADR practice worldwide. The term of the Governing Board shall be two years.

Advisory Board:

APCAM also has an Advisory Board, comprising of the most experienced and credible names from diverse jurisdictions around the globe. They guide the Institution on procedural and ethical aspects concerning ADR. Each constituent member nominates an Advisory Board member representing their country. The Advisory Board includes former Chief Justices or Judges of the highest court of the country, reputed Academics or Senior Lawyers actively involved in the field of arbitration, mediation or other ADR options, or distinguished professionals having rendered outstanding service in the field of ADR.

APCAM Committees:

All the APCAM Centres maintain a panel of skilled and experienced mediators and arbitrators from diverse jurisdictions, based on domain knowledge and expertise in various sectors, trade and industry. For maintaining high standards, the criteria for inclusion of neutrals on panels are made stringent with intricate accreditation norms, including continuous follow-up of records on performance of neutrals with feedback and review mechanisms.

The APCAM Arbitration & Mediation Rules also maintain unique features and innovations providing maximum flexibility to parties and ensure maximum efficacy in arbitration and mediation proceedings, aiding resolution of disputes quickly and economically. The APCAM Rules are regularly updated to ensure maximum efficacy. Practice notes / guidance notes are regularly issued to promote professionalism and quality in the processes.

APCAM maintains permanent Committees comprising of experienced lawyers, ADR professionals and academics from diverse jurisdictions. The Committees provide APCAM with international expertise and insight into developments in ADR practice worldwide.

Secretariat:

The institutional member that nominated the APCAM Chairman shall serve as the APCAM Secretariat. The term of office for the Secretariat shall follow the term of the APCAM Chairman.
